Kajabbi

Coming down the Burke development road to Cloncurry we took a diversion to Kajabbi.

I found this old plunge dip. It has been a long time since any cattle had been put through here. Dad recalls this being a busy rail head for cattle walked in from all over the Gulf. He said he recalled one day where 5 trains left Kajabbi.

I expected to find Kajabbi a complete ghost town. While it is not bustling the few houses showed signs of occupation and there was quite a bit of heavy machinery around.

Still it has been quite awhile since the pub served a beer.

The Quamby Hotel is also well and truly closed. It looks as though some body went to a bit of effort to keep it attractive to patrons. The quirky entrance over the tray of the old truck. The Cobb and co mural.

The Telstra phone box is in a better state than the pub. I got a dial tone so it appears operational.

I don't think we will be topping up with fuel today.
