Queenstown

We had tried to do the full day train trip from Strahan up to Queenstown and back. On inquiry it only runs one or two days a week and was booked out until March. There is a half day trip that runs everyday out of Queenstown. I didn't realise until we got here that is also heavily booked and noting was available for the next 10 days.

Still I wasn't on the train so could take this shot.

So the cleaners have got the loco prepared, Built up steam and now the driver climbs aboard to take her up to the passenger station to pick up the carriages and all the glory 🙂

Looks like one of  the original miners cottages.

The real estate adage the higher up the hill the better the property was evident. I went for a ride on my bike and as I went up the hills the houses got better and the blocks of dirt bigger.

I am not sure why but the creek in the distance that runs through the town is very reminiscent of the Dee River in Mt Morgan. All the rocks are stained red and there is nothing growing along the banks at the water line.

Here the creek running into it looks healthy and is not enough to dilute the red creek.

Iron Blow is in the hills above Queenstown. The walkway lookout is impressive.
