Kangaroo Island - Murray Lagoon

The Murray Lagoon Campground is a bit of a misnomer, It is not on the banks of the lagoon. The Murray Lagoon is the largest fresh water lagoon on the island. There is a walk not far from the campground that heads through swampy area but once again you don't see the real lagoon.

The timber creek walk has been carved through this impenetrable tea tree scrub.

Kangaroo Island - Sewer Beach

This beach is at the end of the D'Estrees Bay drive. I am not sure I was able to capture the surf and the rocks in the many photos I took - you had to be there.

This Pig Face Weed grows everywhere and is very salt tolerant. It does this by concentrating the salt in its leaves which then turn pink. When the leaf has too much salt and is very red the plant drops it off.

Cape Willoughby Lighthouse marking the entrance to the back passage a risky shortcut between Kangaroo Island and the mainland and up St Vincent Gulf Gulf to Adelaide.

Not the actual lens but a similar display one.

I am pretty sure this back up generator at the base of the lighthouse is no longer required. The light is not longer 240 V but a low voltage LED and while uses mains power the only back up is now a battery.
