We camped on the high banks above this crossing.

Both Roderick and I flicked a lure in here without success. Did see some fish though. Archer fish, Long Tom, Catfish, Sooty Grunter..

Early morning reflections.

This fellow was down by the river.

We went across the crossing. Roderick in particular was hoping to get to either Bathurst Head or Cape Melville. We found the road to Bathurst Head to be locked and we did follow this sign to Cape Melville National Park to find it was also closed. The sign at the entrance clearly stating no vehicular access.

We had lunch here at the junction with the Starke track heading to Cooktown.

I am not sure what sort or buildings were once here. High tower for a water tank, some concrete flooring, a tractor designed for cultivation and over yonder a set of yards including a plunge dip.

We were leaving today so I didn't have time to complete the complete nature walk at camp.
