We left the others to return to Coen and free camped at the Archer river.

I am still surprised by the amount to caravans up here. They are travelling a lot slower than us on the gravel so I guess that is how they do it.

The section from Coen to Archer river was the first what I would call rough section of road we have come across so far.

When you look on a map it is not far from here to where we were camped in the National Park. There are croc signs in the NP but not here. There were a lot of people swimming here.

While there was a large stretch of bitumen north of Archer River the gravel into Weipa was pretty rough with the road extending well past the guide posts - looking for the smoothest bits.

Everyone is back together here shopping and doing laundry.

I rode my bike along the track to Palm Creek so I feel I can take a photo with my bike leaning against the sign.

Unfortunately the Hilux got stuck in the bottom and had to be winched back out.

This is the tack that most people were using. It had an easy entry but into a hole that had water over waste deep and then this exit.

Fortunately Roderick found a shallow entry even if it had a steeper entry and then a drive along the creek bed to an easier exit. We were across Palm Creek and off along the southern section of the tele track.

Ever northward, the corrugations are not getting any less.

Managed to get a time at Fruit Bat falls during a lull in the tourist traffic.
