The Boulders Babinda

The Dreamtime story for this place is an apt warning for young men and the hazards of swimming here. There are lots of no swimming past this point signs, and yet people, mostly young men enter the water. Tragically there are still drownings.

The Boulders Babinda

The Boulders Babinda

There is a very large safe swimming area above the boulders.

Daintree Village

While we were not late getting here we did have a phone call to check that we were still coming. The lady was concerned that we might be a no show and she had been fielding calls during the day wanting a site.

Daintree Cruise

We did a one hour cruise on the river that left from the caravan park.

Tiny croc.

Daintree Village Cruise

A bigger crocodile.

Daintree Village Cruise

An even bigger crocodile.

Daintree Village Cruise

The biggest Croc in this section of the Daintree River.

Daintree Village CREB Track

We drove out to have a look at the start of CREB Track.

Daintree Village - CREB Track

We didn't drive across this crossing. No one came through in the 10 minutes we were there. I don't know how you tell how deep it is or how fast the current. Walk it!? Didn't you see the size of that croc. He has lost the last bit of his tail in a fight with an even larger croc.

Daintree Ferry

Heading across the Daintree River. Roderick and Jodelle in front.

Ice Cream

We had to settle for the second best ice cream shop. The one that used the more exotic locally grown fruit didn't open until midday. Clara using her spoon on her particularly hard blueberry ice-cream.

Wujal Wujal Falls

The falls at the end of the Bloomfield Track. I could not believe the amount of traffic on this track/road. Not only the traffic but the vehicle combinations - of course dual cab utes and campatrailers but also hybrids and smaller caravans. I certainly didn't feel the need to be embarrassed about taking Clifford. We did most of it in low range. I need to stop to change in and out of low range and with the traffic in front and behind us I didn't feel I could stop in the middle of the road.(Not like last time). Looks like the Cape will be busy.

Endeavour Falls

These falls are behind a small shop and fuel station with a nice caravan park. We stopped at the shop and asked about seeing the water fall. Yes everybody does was the reply. There is a donation box.

Pretty cool shot with the iPhone.

Frog

We disturbed this little fellow walking down to the falls.

Eddie's Bush Camp at Elim Beach

We camped among the paper bark trees close to the beach.

Cape Bedford

Looking towards Cape Bedford from Elim Beach

Elim Beach

There is a lot of fresh water coming out onto the beach and I think fresh water swamps just behind the beach. These paper parks are growing right down to the high tide mark.

Looking in the other direction towards the coloured sands.
