Tasmania - Sunset Beach Camp

Just after we arrived at camp. Somebody is going to get wet!

This storm was the prelude to a cold windy night. The rain abated but it was still windy the next day.

Freycinet National Park

We took some nice back roads past Bream Creek as a bit of a short cut. Back on the main road we went past this convict built bridge with spikes guard rails.

Freycinet National Park

The famous Wine Glass Bay.

Bit of a slog to get from the carpark up to the lookout.

Yes like an idiot I walked down the 1000 steps to Wine Glass Bay itself.

There were a lot of people down here. I don't think a got a shot without other people in it. There are even people in the water. Still it is a beautiful day bay Tasmania standards.

Campbelltown The Red Bridge

Built in 1838 by convict labour.

Campbelltown The Red Bridge

I am sure none of the convicts working on the bridge could have envisaged it carrying a vehicle such as this one day.

And Ann says I always get in her photos.

Steel straps holding the brick work together. Note the convict arrow stamped into the steel.

Ross Bridge

On to the small town of Ross and it nice 3 arch sandstone bridge.

Ross Bridge

The sandstone is beautifully carved. There must have been some pretty talented artists amongst the criminal class.

Ross Bridge

Not only was Clifford there he drove over the bridge.

Blackman Bridge

This bridge is not as accessible. It is also convict built and has stone pillars but is unique in that the deck is timber. At present the timber deck needs repair and the bridge is closed.

Richmond Bridge

The final bridge for the day is the most familiar arched bridge at Richmond.
